POLICIES

  •  Our rowing season for small boats runs from May until the end of October, with exact dates depending on river and weather conditions. For your safety, rowing or paddling from our site will be permitted only during the official season, as determined by the organization.

  • Private boat owners must carry insurance on their equipment. Northampton Community Rowing is not responsible for any damage to private boats.

  • Club equipment (such as oars, straps, kayak carts, etc.) is for club use only and not available for use with private boats.

  • Private boat owners must provide their own solutions for securing boats and oars to our racks.

GUIDELINES FOR RACK SPACE AND SITE USAGE

  •  With the exception of indoor winter storage for rowing shells, all boats will be kept on our outdoor racks in a secure, fenced area. For outdoor storage, you will be provided with the combination for the gate padlock when you drop off your boat. Please retain the combination in a safe place and do not disclose it to others.

  • You will be assigned a rack space when you drop off your boat. Kayaks, paddle boards and canoes will be stored on lower racks, and rowing shells above. Please use only the space that is assigned to you. Oars/paddles may be stored on the rack with your boat.

  • A logbook will be provided in a covered holder inside the boathouse. Prior to launching your boat, please record your start time and the direction you intend to row/paddle (up- or down-river), and also record the time when you return.

  • Please wipe your boat down after use to prevent water from dripping on other boats while on the racks. Slings will be provided for this purpose. Water for rinsing boats is available in the tank on the downriver side of the boathouse. We ask that you bring your own towels and remove them from the site after each use.

  • Boats must be tied down securely to the racks at all times. Private boat owners are to provide their own straps.

  • Please observe weather and river conditions and avoid rowing/paddling during high winds, high water and fast current. Personal floatation devices are recommended at all times, and mobile phones (in waterproof covering) are also recommended.

  • When launching and landing, please be observant of other boats, as well as swimmers in the area. When NCR practices are in session, our club boats have priority use of the docks.

  •  Please close and lock the gate before you head out on the water and before leaving the site after your row/paddle.
