Financial Aid for Junior Athletes

Northampton Community Rowing believes that anyone who wants to row should have the opportunity to do so, and as such is committed to making rowing accessible to athletes from all backgrounds, regardless of financial means.

We aim to accomplish this goal by bridging the gap between what a family can afford and the actual cost of a NCR rowing season. We strive to do all that we can to help make this athletic opportunity possible. Financial aid is awarded without regard to race, color, or national or ethnic origin, and without regard for gender, sexual orientation or creed.

In order to ensure that our Rower Assistance funds are able to help the maximum number of junior athletes, the following details apply:

  • Financial aid will be need based.

  • Financial aid will be granted for one season at a time. This allows for rowers to participate season by season and for changes in the financial status of parents/guardians.

  • Financial aid is dependent on available funds.

  • NCR cannot guarantee availability of funds for any individual rower for future seasons.

  • NCR is unable to provide 100% assistance packages and assumes that each athlete and their family will provide the balance.

  • Financial aid funds will be distributed by applying discounts at time of registration.

  • Payment plans are available and may be set up with with the Director of Programs and the Executive Board.

  • Financial aid recipients are expected to participate fully in all NCR activities, including practices, regattas, volunteer opportunities and fundraising events.

  • Currently, financial aid is only available to Youth rowers. Adult rowers, please reach out to the club president for options.

  • NCR will protect the confidentiality of all applicants. Any information provided will ONLY be used to determine eligibility and reviewed by the Rower Assistance Committee.

To apply, please complete this application form. Applications will be reviews on a rolling basis and candidates will be notified within one business week. Upon notification, recipients will have two business days to accept or decline the assistance offer.
